Each tartan tells the story of kinship and place.

The Woomargama Station Tartan is inspired by the colours of our landscape: the burnt yellow of summer grass, the eucalyptus green of the trees, the ox blood red of the poll hereford trimmed with the merino wool white and what we call “lucky duck” blue. Our “lucky duck” blue represents not only the piercing blue skies only seen in country Australia but also the markings found on the Chestnut Teal Ducks we see on the lake. All farmers hope for the weather gods to shine their luck upon them.

Woomargama Station has a twin heritage of Indigenous stewardship and European ownership. Many Scots who have come to Australia have left their mark on the property including my own family.

We are delighted to partner with proud “rebel” Scot, Clare Campbell, to design and produce in Scotland this wonderful heritage fabric to celebrate the Scottish heritage of the Station. The tartan will be accredited by the Scottish Registration of Tartans.

To celebrate the twin stewardship of our woodland country, Woomargama Station is proud to soon be able to offer for purchase our classic tartan scarf and bespoke tartan calico-backed picnic rugs.
